Frequently Asked Questions
Who is Oklahoma Baptist Homes for Children?
Oklahoma Baptist Homes for Children (OBHC) has been dedicated to showing and sharing the love of Christ with children and their families for over 122 years. Rooted in the truth of Psalm 127:3 (NLT) – “Children are a gift from the Lord; they are a reward from Him” – OBHC operates with the unwavering belief that every child is a precious gift from God.
At OBHC, we value children because they are given by the Lord, and we cherish the opportunity to serve them. Whether through our Hope Pregnancy Center, Campus-Based Residential Programs, or Foster Care Ministries, we are committed to honoring the gift of life and providing Christ-centered care to every child and family we encounter.
We believe children are a blessing, not a burden. In a world where many children are overlooked or undervalued, OBHC strives to demonstrate their worth and show that they are truly the Lord’s blessing. It is our privilege to serve and honor these gifts from God, reflecting His love in all we do.
We are an affiliate of the Baptist General Convention of Oklahoma, which comprises 1,700 Oklahoma Southern Baptist churches. OBHC does not charge for any of its services, nor accepts government funds. We do not discriminate on placement based on race, color, national origin, or religious affiliation.
What services does Oklahoma Baptist Homes for Children offer?
OBHC provides help and homes through four main ministries: Child-Focused Care (residential homes for children), Family-Focused Care (support for single mothers and their children), Hope Pregnancy Center (resources for unplanned pregnancies), and Foster Care Support Ministries (training and support for foster families).
How can I get help for myself or my family?
If you need help, the first step is to visit one of our Get Help Ministry Pages. There you will find applications and answers to frequently asked questions about entering our programs. For pregnancy support, please contact thinkimpregnant.org for a Hope Pregnancy Center near you.
How is OBHC funded?
OBHC is funded through the generosity of individuals, businesses as well as gifts from Southern Baptist churches through offerings and the Cooperative Program. This support allows us to provide all our services without charge and without accepting state or federal funding, ensuring our care remains Christ-centered.
