My name is Maci*. I have three biological siblings and three adopted siblings. I am originally from Tishomingo, Oklahoma where I lived with my adoptive parents. In October, it will be my third year living at Baptist Home for Girls (BHG). I am now a junior attending Madill High School.
One of my favorite things to do is play soccer. I am the goalie for Madill High School. I love showing livestock and hanging out with friends. On campus, I am involved in the ag program. Most days at BHG, I wake up and have breakfast and Bible study with my cottage. After that, I go to school. After school, I have soccer practice for two hours and then come home to work with my pigs. After ag, we have dinner and do chores and hang out with the other girls a little before bedtime. Before coming to BHG, I did not really have a schedule.

My biggest adjustment to life at BHG has been getting used to change. I have never been a new kid anywhere until I moved to BHG. There is a lot to love about living on campus, but my favorite is learning about the other girls and learning how different everyone’s lifestyles are. I find it very interesting. One big thing I have learned is no one is the same, so you have to be kind to everyone and not just your friends. One thing I would tell every new girl that moves here is just be yourself. It is not worth trying to be the “cool kid,” so do not lie to try and fit in, because your life and your story matter.
In the future, I wish to go to college, but my career path is undecided. However, I am very interested in soccer, law and law enforcement!
In Bible study, I have been learning about two major things: temptation and worldly desires. God can help through every desire and temptation, and I cannot handle it on my own. “Give it to God” is a phrase that sticks with me. I have also recently learned that I should not give up so easily, because if I wait just a little longer, things will get better.
Prayer Requests
Please pray that my family will heal from brokenness. Please pray I will continue to “give it to God.” Please pray for my future.
