My name is Farrah*. I am 32 years old, and I have four children, all 6-years-old and under. I am five years sober this year! I came to Baptist Children’s Home (BCH) in Owasso in June 2025 and have lived here for nine months. Before coming to BCH, I was just living day to day, struggling. I was just thankful to make it to the next day.
The biggest adjustment in moving to campus was letting go of the control. I did everything by myself. I walked everywhere, had a job, and took care of the babies. I was very resourceful to get things we needed. However, I honestly like the support of living on campus, knowing I am not alone. I also like the security of how safe it feels to live on campus. I also love that my children have a safe space to play!
My favorite memory from my time at BCH would have to be the time my family advisor baptized me at church. Everyone that worked at BCH came and supported me as well.

My day-to-day life is very busy. I get up early, take the kids to daycare, go to work, then I get off work. I go pick up the babies, and sometimes we have things we have to do afterwards. If I am not working, I am cooking. I love to cook! I love making people happy with food. People in our cottage and even next door will come get some food that I have prepared. I also love to write and sing.
Something I have learned in Bible study is God meets you exactly where you are. God has been helping me become more patient as a mother. God has been teaching me how and who I need to pray for. I used to be nervous about praying out loud in front of people, and quite frankly, I never did it before now.
I am proud of how much I have been able to accomplish. I have gotten so much done that I never dreamed was possible. Before, I was walking in any weather. I was struggling just to get by from day to day. I was so anxious and angry. Now I do not have to worry about anything really. I am safe, and I am supported.
My plans for the future are to get my own place and, hopefully, a car. My plans are to move closer to family for continued support. Also, I am going to college for business management, so I want to complete college and start my own business.
Prayer Requests
Please pray for continued growth in patience. Pray for continued good health for my babies. Pray for God to continue to be the center of our everyday lives.
