Equipping Churches, Empowering Families

Help Oklahoma Families Thrive

Too many foster, kinship, and adoptive families struggle alone. More than half stop serving within the first year because ongoing encouragement and support rarely exist. At Oklahoma Baptist Homes for Children (OBHC), we believe every church in Oklahoma can play a vital role in changing this story.

By joining the Foster Care Support Ministry, you equip your congregation to wrap around families with compassion, practical help, and the love of Christ. Together, we can form a statewide network of “Churches that C.A.R.E.S.” and transform countless lives.

The Challenge

Sustaining Foster and Resource Families

Children in foster care experience deep loss and disruption. Foster, kinship, and adoptive families often feel overwhelmed by the demands of caregiving and the complexities of the system. Burnout sets in quickly without dedicated support.

Your church can become the difference-maker.

Foster Parent Oklahoma FAQ

OBHC partners with local churches to help them support foster families in their congregations and communities. We equip churches with tools and resources to encourage, strengthen, and walk alongside those who are caring for children in foster care.

To become a foster parent in Oklahoma, you must be at least 21, pass background checks, complete required training, show financial stability, and complete a home study.

No, you do not have to own your home—renters can foster as long as they provide a safe environment, enough space, and a separate bed for the child.

OBHC supports foster parents by partnering with churches to build strong, caring ministry support. We provide churches with training, practical resources, and a trusted network so they can better encourage and serve foster families.

  • Through this partnership, churches are equipped to:
  • Support foster parents with care and encouragement
  • Strengthen their ministry to foster families
  • Respond to the needs of children in their communities
  • Create a dependable circle of help for families in foster care

OBHC helps churches serve with confidence, compassion, and purpose so that foster parents do not have to walk this journey alone.

Yes, foster families receive a monthly reimbursement from the state to help cover the child’s basic needs.

OBHC does not license foster parents, but we support those who are already licensed or in the process of becoming licensed. We help churches connect foster families to resources, care, and encouragement.
