Roland EdgeRoland Edge

Roland Edge served as a member of the Oklahoma Baptist Homes for Children Board of Trustees. During that time his wife, Doris, was faithful in attendance with him. Roland is a long-time member of First Baptist Church, Ft. Cobb, and Doris served faithfully with him until her death in February, 2003.

Roland is a successful farmer and cattleman and supplied peanuts to Boys Ranch Town as well as each of the children’s homes for many years. Roland has represented the cause of children in the Caddo Association, and has been an outstanding advocate for children in his church, association, and community for many, many years.

Roland Edge served as a member of the Baptist Building Corporation formed in March, 1990, with five corporation directors, four laymen and a pastor. He also served on the building study committee. He served in volunteer missions and served as president of Baptist Men’s Agri-Missions Fellowship in Oklahoma. In recent years, Roland has been very active in the support and encouragement of the Hope Pregnancy Centers of OBHC, and crisis pregnancy centers in his local area.

Besides their financial support of OBHC, Roland and Doris demonstrated a genuine love and concern for the children through attendance at style shows, President’s Leadership Banquets, and other campus activities. Roland and Doris’ faithful support has helped enable OBHC to help children become capable, caring Christian adults by sharing Christ’s love and providing hope and homes for children.

Tony Kennedy, president of Oklahoma Baptist Homes for Children states, “Roland is a personal friend and has been one of the great encouragers of my life. I highly recommend Roland to be recognized as a member of the Gladys Smith Society.”  05-11-07
