Oklahoma Baptist Homes for Children

Short-Term Mission Projects

Paper Dolls

Providing clothing for the children who live with Oklahoma Baptist Homes for Children is a great project for a Sunday School class, WMU or women’s ministry group, or an entire church or community group.

Some of the children who come to live on an OBHC campus bring just the clothes they are wearing, and all of the children grow and need new clothes for school and church each year.

How It Works:

1. Decide on a date to begin the project and a date when it will end.

2. Set a dollar goal for the project. Most groups assign a dollar value to each article of clothing placed on the paper doll, or you can simply use the thermometer-style chart on one of the posters provided by OBHC. Or you may make your own progress chart.

3. You will find a variety of OBHC posters and ethnic paper dolls on this web page, all available for downloading.

4. Consider asking one group to challenge another in the dollars raised or the number of items purchased for the paper dolls.

5. Send a check to one of the campuses or OBHC’s Home Office and celebrate your success with those who participated. Encourage them to attend one of the OBHC Style Shows in Tulsa, Oklahoma City, or Ardmore where they can see the results of their efforts.
