Lloyd and Betty MinterLloyd and Betty Minter

Lloyd and Betty Minter were longtime members of First Baptist Church, Bartlesville, where they served faithfully until Betty’s death on July 6, 2007. They were residents of Bartlesville since 1949 before moving to Montereau Retirement Resort in Tulsa in 2006.

Betty was placed in a children’s home when she was very young and had great empathy for the mission of Oklahoma Baptist Homes for Children. She served a 4-year term on the OBHC Board of Trustees and enjoyed playing a good round of golf each Wednesday. Upon her death, memorials were established in her name to Oklahoma Baptist Homes for Children.

Mr. Minter was chief counsel for Phillips Petroleum Company at the time of his retirement in 1978. He and Betty enjoyed traveling internationally. In addition to being a homemaker, Betty was actively involved in a variety of community groups, including the Bartlesville Service League, OK Mozart Festival, and was past President of the Hillcrest Women’s Golf Association.

Besides being members of the Maxey Society, through their financial support of OBHC, they demonstrated a genuine love and concern for children through attendance at OBHC style shows, President’s Leadership Banquets, and other campus activities. Their faithful support has helped enable OBHC to help children become capable, caring Christian adults by sharing Christ’s love and providing hope and homes for children.

Tony Kennedy, president of Oklahoma Baptist Homes for Children states, “The four years Betty served on our Board of Trustees were significant and delightful years for me. I appreciated the special relationship Lloyd and Betty demonstrated with Betty’s involvement on our Board and Lloyd’s support of her efforts. Betty showed a special tenderness and understanding of our children. I grew to have an expanded appreciation for our adoptive services by observing how Lloyd and Betty loved and honored their adopted granddaughter.” 09-14-07
