My name is Kade*, and I am 16 years old and currently a sophomore at Owasso High School. I am the older brother to three sisters, and my youngest sister, Ryleigh, and I have a great bond. Family is important to me. I enjoy spending time with family, especially my dad when we build things together. I also love my mom’s caring and nurturing heart.

I moved to Baptist Children’s Home (BCH) in June 2024. I struggled with many temptations, and my behavior toward my family was not the best. I did not have passing grades and had a negative attitude toward following rules and authority.

The biggest challenges I faced when I arrived were learning how to break old habits, adjusting to a new routine, structure, and following rules. However, I appreciate that my houseparents come alongside me to encourage and lift me up during hard times and see me through it. Mrs. Billie, my housemom, has taught me that accountability is important because I need to take ownership of my actions and decisions to live a better life.

Some of my favorite things to do are playing video games and watching movies with my cottage. I have several different hobbies: playing basketball, riding bikes with my cottage, and anything that is outdoors. I especially enjoy fishing with my housedad, Mr. Jason.

My favorite memory is hearing the gospel, and by doing so I gave my life to Christ.

Currently, I relate to David [in the Bible]; he struggled a lot. He kept his faith in God the whole time. He feared King Saul most of his journey, but David persevered and never gave up hope. He cried out to God often, and God heard and answered David. God loved David through all of his trials just as God loves me in my own trials and tribulations. God is teaching me how to be faithful and believe Him. He continues to change my heart by showing others that I care for them, and He gives me patience and calms my spirit when I am having a rough day. My prayer life has grown, because I am trusting Jesus with each new day.

I am proud of how much I have stepped up to show leadership in my day-to-day walk with Christ. My biggest change since coming to BCH is the positive relationship I now have with my entire immediate family. My attitude toward others has also been much better by treating others with respect.

In the future, I plan to move back home with my family at the end of the first school semester. I will continue with my high school education and maybe go to college. Someday, I would like to have a steady career and have my own family and, most importantly, continue my relationship with God.

Prayer Requests

Pray that as I reunite with my family when I move home, we will become stronger together. Pray I can maintain passing grades and have a support system. Please also pray my relationship with Jesus will grow, and my faith will be stronger even when I am faced with daily challenges.
