OBHC Impact Stories

Impact stories are written about, and occasionally written by, our OBHC residents. In these stories, readers can discover how we are making a difference in the lives of these young people. If it were not for the generous, ongoing support we receive, none of this would be possible.

New stories are added each month, so check back for updates, and share them with your friends. The most recent stories are posted at the top.
Not Alone-read Krystyna's story

Not Alone

“I was almost alone, but now I have Jesus and all these people here at the children's home. I love and miss my mom, but...this feels like home, and I'm with my other family. I like living in the cottage.”

Becoming A Better Person-read Kaylee's story

Becoming a Better Person

“If I didn't come here, I'd probably be a horrible kid right now," she admits. “But I'm learning how to be a better person than I even thought people could be. I'm learning life doesn't have to be crazy. You can make good choices and change your circumstances.”

Focusing on Tomorrow-read Shelby's story

Focusing on Tomorrow

“Before, I was always depressed. I grew up in a house where I was abused in terrible ways and neglected, so I started acting out, doing drugs. Then I met Jesus, and I am better because of Him. Somebody loves me, not just anybody, but somebody important, the Son of God!”

A Head Start-read Cody's story

A Head Start

“Living here has changed who I am. People didn't always like me before. I was pretty negative, but I'm not that way now. People enjoy talking to me and being around me.”

Just Getting Started-read Alexis' story

Just Getting Started

“I guess we could have gone to live with friends or something, but this is way better because my mom has help with the little ones and she doesn't ever have to feel alone.”

A New Hunger-read Keith's story

A New Hunger

“This is a really good thing you have going on here. When children come here, they get to know God and do lots of fun stuff. You can be happy while you learn right from wrong.”
