Betty Bishop and Larry McCauley unveiled the historical marker at the former site of the Oklahoma City Baptist Children's Home.

A significant milestone was reached last month which was an experience with special meaning for former residents and employees of Baptist Children's Home in Oklahoma City. A historical marker was unveiled at the former children's home site in a ceremony attended by approximately 50 individuals.

In 1982 after occupying the campus for almost 80 years, the children's home was sold and moved to south Oklahoma City. In consultation with Debbie Whitacre, representative of Landmark Land Company, Inc., which now owns the property, arrangements were made for a marker to be erected. Several dozen alumni of Baptist Children's Home raised almost $700 to help pay for the marker.

The unveiling was done by two former residents, Betty Bishop, now retired, who lived at the home as a teenager and returned to work there for 42 years, and Larry McCauley, an Oklahoma City psychologist. He lived at the campus 14 years, longer than any other person. One former resident, J.B. Marr, came from Denver, Colorado for the ceremony.
