...A new organization chart approved by the directors and combines the child care department and the retirement centers and chaplain department into Special Care Ministries relating to the executive director's office. The change takes effect July 1. Lowell Milburn, child care director, will continue present duties and also direct the combined office with Don Donalson continuing to serve as director of adult care ministries as part of the new ministries office. Announcement was made that James V. Browning who is retiring as administrator of the Oklahoma City Baptist Children's Home will serve on a retirement basis with the new office to coordinate child care ministries.

Under the new organization, the number of committees of the board will be reduced to four: administrative, business management, planning program and special care ministries...

Citing a possible basic budget short-fall for 1985, the directors approved spending interest earnings from endowment held for convention departments (child care) by the Baptist Foundation of Oklahoma. In the past interest earnings have been reinvested in the principal. The interest earnings will be applied to the remaining 1985 and the 1986 budgets of the endowed departments (child care)....

In another action, the BGCO child care department was instructed to work toward accreditation by the National Association of Homes for Children. Baptist children's homes in Missouri, Mississippi and Texas have received such accreditation.
