Birthday Offerings

boy with birthday bankThe Birthday Offering is a favorite tradition of giving to the Children’s Home. Baptists support the Home by giving money on their birthdays. Originally, the amount was determined by giving a penny corresponding with their age. Birthday banks were distributed to Baptist churches across the state. Each Sunday, members sang “Happy Birthday” and offerings were placed in the banks.

Many churches continue to use the banks weekly. The requested amount has grown to one dollar for each year, and the offering helps meet the needs of children today.
