Tony and Sheryl KennedyTony and Sheryl Kennedy

Tony Kennedy has served as the President of Oklahoma Baptist Homes for Children since 1997. He is responsible to provide leadership, oversight and direction to the ministry of OBHC. His personal mission is to live each day in fellowship with Jesus Christ and to be available at all times to do His will.

He and his wife, Sheryl, are the proud parents of one son and two daughters: Leslie Kennedy Hollis of Decatur, Texas, and Erin Kennedy Austin of Edmond, Oklahoma. Their son, Stewart and his wife, Casey, are also Edmond residents and are the parents of Tony and Sheryl’s grandchildren, Emily Anna Kennedy and Payton Michael Kennedy. Tony and Sheryl are active members of First Baptist Church, Edmond.

Tony and Sheryl have made a commitment to the Hope & Homes Campaign by giving monthly over three years, allowing them to give a larger gift and it also serves as a reminder to them to pray for the OBHC staff and the children in our care.

Through the use of a charitable trust, Tony and Sheryl will transfer their family farm to OBHC, receiving a retirement income and OBHC will receive the value of the farm at their death.

Tony has served as chair and is a member of the Oklahoma Commission on Children and Youth. He has served as President, Secretary-Treasurer and member of the Oklahoma Children’s Agencies and Residential Enterprises (OkCare) for 17 years. He has also served as President, Secretary-Treasurer and member of the Southwestern Association of Child Care Executives for 17 years. He is past president of the Child Care Executives of Southern Baptists.

He served as the Administrator at Boys Ranch Town in Edmond, was a District Supervisor for the Southeast Region of Oklahoma for the State Department of Vocational-Technical Education and taught Vocational Agriculture in Omaha, Nebraska, and Madill, Oklahoma. He has a Master’s Degree in Vocational Education from Central State University, a Bachelor’s Degree in Agriculture Education from Oklahoma State University and an Associate Degree in Agriculture from Murray State College. He participated in President Bush’s White House 2002 Conference on Missing, Exploited, and Runaway Children.

Tony was ordained to the Gospel Ministry at First Baptist Church, Edmond in 1993. He also is an ordained Deacon, having been ordained in 1970 at Harrison Street Baptist Church in Omaha, Nebraska. 03-25-03
