Norm and Phyllis Morton
On March 23, 2016, the Owasso tornado sirens signaled a loud warning blast, alerting of an impending severe storm and possible tornados. Thanks to a caring couple in Tulsa, all of our children and staff were just a short walk away from the safety of a storm shelter and completely out of harm’s way. On that day, several deadly tornadoes did cross north Tulsa and set down about a mile from the campus. All glory to God, our children, staff and campus were untouched. But what a comfort to know that a safe and secure shelter is just a few steps away!

Norm and Phyllis Morton are interested in more than safety for our children. Several years ago, they provided a totally new recreation room for our children and area youth groups. The Morton Rec. Room is filled with fun games to engage the children, and soft comfy furniture to relax on and catch a movie. What a pleasure it is for the children and staff to have this special spot for Rest and Relaxation (R&R).

OBHC has many friends who love our children, pray for them and financially support them. However, rarely do we encounter ministry partners like Norm and Phyllis Morton, who walk alongside us, invest in all that we do and engage in our vision, as ambassadors on our behalf, to their church and community. The Mortons love to share OBHC with their friends and business partners. They encourage them to learn about and support us.

Norm and Phyllis have a great fondness and demonstrate deep love and affection for our ministry. Their consistent support, which encourages others in Oklahoma to support OBHC’s ministry, and love for children are the qualifications for membership in the Gladys Smith Society.

This membership is the highest award given by Oklahoma Baptist Homes for Children to say “thank you” to people who make an outstanding effort on behalf of at-risk children in Oklahoma.
