Jim Lehew
Jim LehewGreg McNeece, President of OBHC presented Jim Lehew the Gladys Smith Society Award at the 2017 March OBHC Board Meeting at Baptist Children’s Home in Oklahoma City.

Jim Lehew is the best next-door neighbor in the history of OBHC. As associate pastor of Emmaus Baptist Church, Jim has been instrumental in multiple projects in serving the children of Baptist Children’s Home, Oklahoma City. An example is his commitment to the Children’s Hope program, providing training and coaching for the mothers and their children in this ministry. Jim was instrumental in the building of a playground to serve the school children displaced by the Moore tornado. That playground later became the permanent part of the Children’s Home in OKC. Jim has led in providing volunteers to make the Oklahoma City campus Miles4Smiles bike ride a success, graciously sharing the Emmaus Church parking lot to make this activity well known and very pleasurable.

Jim became the Associate Pastor at Emmaus in 2001. His responsibilities include oversight of the staff and mobilizing the members of Emmaus for ministry inside and outside the church facilities. Jim leads the Sunday Night Adult Bible Study and gives oversight to the educational ministries of the church. Jim and his wife, Brook, have three children.

Jim has invested significant energy in leadership for the organization as the past chairman of the Board of Trustees and currently serves as an advisor to the Board. He has served as a member of the strategic planning committee and as a member of the president’s succession committee. Jim is an outstanding spokesman in the church community encouraging pastors and staff in his circlew of influence to support the ministry of Oklahoma Baptist Homes for Children.

This membership is the highest award given by Oklahoma Baptist Homes for Children to say “thank you” to people who make an outstanding effort on behalf of at-risk children in Oklahoma. 3.31.17
