The Gladys Smith Society

Glenna (Sunny) Hargrove

Glenna “Sunny” Hargrove, OBHC Gladys Smith Award recipient Glenna (Sunny) Y. Hargrove was recognized and inducted into the Gladys Smith Society at the Board of Trustees meeting on Friday, December 4. OBHC President Tony Kennedy introduced Hargrove and honored her with a Gladys Smith Society framed certificate.

“We are so grateful for all of your help over the years,” said Tony Kennedy, OBHC president. “It is because of people like you that we are able to help children become capable, caring Christian adults. You help us achieve our mission.”

Hargrove is a resident of Sand Springs, Okla., and great-grandmother to 11 beautiful children. Along with other friends, Hargrove blessed the children at Boys Ranch Town by helping build the Kimbler Cottage. She has attended the Annual Back-to-School Style Show for several years, which she says she thoroughly enjoys. She has been great friends with Jack Kimbler, advisor to the OBHC Board of Trustees, and his wife, Lila, for 35 years.

Hargrove was joined at the award ceremony by her children, Lynn Hargrove, Gary and Cindy Hargrove, and Dana McBurney; and her special friends from Ameriprise Financial, Jack and Lila Kimbler, Drew Self, Kyle Williams and John Robinson.

“I feel very blessed about a lot of things,” said Hargrove. “My children help me and are so supportive. Also, Jack [Kimbler] has always been there. He’s like family to me.”.

Her history of giving and love for children are the qualifications for membership in the Gladys Smith Society. Her consistent support encourages others in Oklahoma to support the ministry of OBHC.

This membership is the highest award given by Oklahoma Baptist Homes for Children to say “thank you” to people who make an outstanding effort on behalf of at-risk children in Oklahoma. 12.4.15
