Dr. Kent SmithDr. Kent Smith

For nearly 20 years, Dr. Kent Smith and his staff have been faithfully providing general family dental care for boys at Boys Ranch Town. Dr. Smith’s practice is highly respected in the community, and he and his staff are a joy to work with.

Dr. Smith’s original career plans didn’t include dentistry. In high school he received congressional and presidential nominations to the U.S. Military Academy at West Point and both the Air Force and Navy academies. After failing the physical because of an overbite, his first long-term exposure to dentistry began. He said, “As I went through the process of having braces, I realized dentistry offered something that could make a long and profound effect on someone.”

Following graduation from the University of Texas Health Science Center, he was accepted to residency at OU Medical Center and moved to Edmond in 1986 with his wife, Leslye, and began his practice in 1988 with Leslye assisting him.

As a member of First Baptist Church, Edmond, Kent has been involved in a number of mission trips and is an active deacon. He is an excellent role model for young men and has a very supportive and beautiful family. Kent has been active as a greeter/shepherd at our Boys Ranch Town Drive-Thru Christmas Pageant for many years.

Membership in the Gladys Smith Society is the highest award given by OBHC to say “thank you” to people who make an outstanding effort on behalf of at-risk children in Oklahoma through the ministry of Oklahoma Baptist Homes for Children.
