Steeler the Camel Entertains
International Guests at Birthday Party

Steeler enjoying a bouquet of carrotsInternational visitors from seven countries toured Boys Ranch Town as a part of the Department of State's International Visitor Leadership Program. President Tony Kennedy provided a brief ministry explanation and fielded questions about the structure and function of Oklahoma Baptist Homes for Children. Guests from Chile, Czech Republic, Ethiopia, Finland, Lebanon, Madagascar and the Philippines met with residents and staff of BRT and participated in an equine-assisted psychotherapy demonstration.

While they were on campus, our guests gladly joined us in celebrating Steeler the Camel’s 5th birthday. Steeler was born at Boys Ranch Town during the 2009 Super Bowl, hence the name “Steeler.” For his birthday, Steeler gobbled up a fresh bouquet of carrots, while his guests enjoyed carrot cake and punch. For most, this was their first time singing happy birthday to a camel. We know our guests’ visit to Boys Ranch Town will be a memorable one.

The residents and staff enjoyed celebrating Steeler with an offering to the OBHC birthday bank.
