Our 2018 Miles4Smiles Bike Ride was held on Saturday, June 16, and was another great success! We had an incredible turn out of volunteers to help with the ride. You know that you have good people volunteering when they are willing to show up at 5:30 am to help get the event going and we receive comments like this about them:

I can't say enough about how awesome the OBCH is and how organized the ride was. WOW! Support was there during the entire ride. Rest stops were fabulous with yummies and hydration. :) Can't wait to ride it again next year!

This year, 360 bike riders participated in the ride, yielding the highest amount of proceeds since this ride began.

"We are so grateful for everyone in the community who continues to support us by attending the bike ride," said Stephanie Gros, BCH Assistant Administrator. "The funds we raise allows us to support and bless residents who live on campus and provide for their needs."

Participants chose to bike 10, 27, 44 or 56 miles, or participate in the 2.6 mile campus walk. The starting line was located at Emmaus Baptist Church in Oklahoma City and the finish line was at the BCH campus. Throughout the course, BCH volunteers, staff and residents provided water stops, directions and traffic assistance at intersections for riders.

"It is always a joy to see the success of this event and the generosity of others," said Gros. "We are pleased with the positive feedback we have received from participants, volunteers and residents on campus. Because of your participation, we will continue to see our residents take positive steps forward in their lives."

Lunch was provided afterwards on campus at the finish line. Participants were entered into drawings to win door prizes. Games were available for children at the after-party, including inflatables and face painting. All donations made went toward meeting basic needs for the children and families living on the BCH campus.

"We could not put on this event without the help of incredible volunteers each year," said Jim Stewart, Volunteer Coordinator. "It takes a lot of people to make an event this large run smoothly, and our volunteers always do a great job."

Hope to see everyone next year for the 2019 Miles4Smiles Bike Ride - June 15, 2019.
