Don and Wanda Fischer, of Hooker, Oklahoma, are longtime friends of Oklahoma Baptist Homes for Children and Boys Ranch Town. Don is a farmer who has worked hard all his life. When he returned from the Navy, he began farming with his older brother, Norman, in 1950. When their other brother, Allan, got home from the Army, they set up the Fischer Brothers Partnership.

Don’s connection with Boys Ranch Town began in the ‘60’s when the brothers had a registered Angus herd and a feedlot. They donated beef from their herd and feedlot to BRT. They processed and provided hamburger meat to be used at Boys Ranch Town and the Baptist Children’s Home. They also began donating grain to Boys Ranch Town in the ‘60’s. Charles Boldin used a 2-ton truck to pick up grain at the Fischer’s grain elevator. Tony Kennedy, OBHC president, says, "I am very thankful to the Fischer brothers and their families for providing grain and beef through the years. They have helped us provide the very best food for the children we serve."

The Fischers are thankful for God’s blessings, and have expressed their gratitude by helping many worthy causes. When their accountant advised them that they needed to create an estate plan, Mr. and Mrs. Fischer thought of Boys Ranch Town. Mr. Fischer says, "Our accountant said we could spend it on ourselves, give it away, or let the government have it." Mrs. Fischer adds, "We are content the way we are; we don’t need anything. We’d rather help kids."

Because of the Fischer's generosity and selflessness, a new cottage was built at Boys Ranch Town in 2003. This cottage is home to eight boys and their houseparents. The Fischers' gift has and will continue to provide hope and a home for boys for many years to come. In the safety and security of the cottage, boys are given a chance to succeed and discover God’s plan for their life. The Fischers' heart is one for God’s glory; in building the cottage they hoped to see the boys that live there come to Christ.
