Boys Ranch Town Celebrates 50 Years of Caring for Boys

An Old-Fashioned Gospel Sing was held on Sunday, August 31, 2003

The Messengers are a long-time Oklahoma Gospel quartet that calls Carnegie home. Baritone for the group is Lyn Johnson. Joining him are Don Johnson singing bass, Victor Wood as lead and Mike Sebastian on tenor.

Unity comes from Duncan, Oklahoma. They are a mixed quartet including Linda Brinegar, Linda Cornforth, Dennis Johnson, and Randy Mitchell. They have sung together for about four years. They have opened for such groups as Kingsmen, Carolina Boys, Texans, Dove Brothers, the Bishops and The Weatherfords. Among their many credits is the fact that one of them is the Mayor of Duncan!

HeirBorn Quartet is from northeast Oklahoma and dedicated to spreading the gospel of Jesus Christ through song. They formed in June 1998 and have ministered from Oklahoma to Michigan. Dave Ward sings bass, Jerry Ward lead, James Walls is the group's tenor and Glenn Baker is the baritone of the group.

An old-fashioned evening of gospel music was held under a tent with every space filled. Everyone brought their own lawn chairs. The weather cooperated. LaVon Burnett and Waterloo Road Baptist provided homemade cakes and Reid Printing donated fans. After the concert, tours were directed to Fischer Cottage and the Animal Learning Center.

Bill Green, Associate Executive Director of the Church and Family Equipping Ministries of the Baptist General Convention of Oklahoma, was the special guest for the evening. He took time from his many responsibilities to lead the program and Boys Ranch Town was very grateful.

Linda Green, the accompanist is Bill's wife and a gifted musician in her own right. She is an active member of Quail Springs Baptist Church Sanctuary Choir and organist for Singing ChurchWomen. Linda also plays for Falls Creek and various festivals across our state.
