Dr. Gerald and Madanelle Kirk are significantly involved in the present and future ministry of Oklahoma Baptist Homes for Children, especially the children on the Owasso campus. Jerry has invested a great deal in the beautification of the Owasso campus by planting trees, shrubs, and flowers. He has also been involved in updating the lawn and yard maintenance equipment used by the staff to care for the grounds. You never know when you might catch sight of Jerry on one of the pieces of equipment he helped purchase. This year he is organizing a volunteer group from surrounding churches to help with the mowing each week.

Jerry has completed a 4-year term on OBHC’s Board of Trustees, and they are active members of Arrow Heights, Broken Arrow. Jerry is a retired professor from the OSU Medical School, and Madanelle is a retired school teacher. Jerry and Madanelle continue to work tirelessly to invite their friends to fundraising events and activities that support the Owasso campus and the Hope Pregnancy Center in Tulsa. They are fearless in their efforts to ask their circle of friends to give to the ministry of OBHC. Because of their efforts, the Owasso campus is a much more attractive place for our children and staff to live.

Donna Brooks, Development Representative at the Owasso Children’s Home, states, “Jerry & Madanelle are true partners in our ministry. They walk with us every step of the way. Our problems and concerns became theirs too, and they work toward helping us find a solution. Our happiness and joy becomes theirs too, and they celebrate with us. What a blessing to have Jerry and Madanelle in our lives.”

Jerry and Madanelle demonstrate a genuine love and concern for children through promoting and participating in the Owasso Style Show, and other campus activities. They have made it financially possible for all the campus cottages to go to Branson and Silver Dollar City for summer vacations the past few years. Friends like Jerry and Madanelle enable OBHC to fulfill its mission to help children become capable, caring Christian adults by sharing Christ’s love and providing hope and homes for children.

Tony Kennedy, president of Oklahoma Baptist Homes for Children, states, “Jerry and Madanelle are personal friends and have been great encouragers to me. Jerry is a fantastic friend-maker for OBHC. I highly recommend them to be recognized as members of the Gladys Smith Society.” 05-21-10
