Bill BrownMr. Bill J. Brown, a resident of Durant, Oklahoma passed from this life in Denison, Texas on March 20, 2013 at the age of 84 years 6 months and 18 days. He was born to Deloss and Clara (Southerland) Brown in Loco, Oklahoma on Sunday, September 2, 1928. Bill married Norma Heorning in 1953 in Bartlesville, Oklahoma, she preceded him in death on April 16, 1986. He found love again and married Katherine McDonough Mullens on Wednesday, April 21, 1990 in Sand Springs, Oklahoma.

Bill was a Korean War Veteran and served 4 years in the United States Air Force and achieved the rank of Staff Sergeant. He worked 28 years in the energy equipment business at Harley Industries and left as Vice President of General Products and Sales. Bill was appointed as a trustee of Sand Springs Home January 15, 1981. He was an ordained deacon and was a perpetual member of the Masonic Lodge. While a member of Broadway Baptist Church in Sand Springs, Oklahoma, Bill served as SS Director and was a member of numerous committees. He became a Gideon in 1981. Bill was a Rotary Club member and served as President one year. He was a member of Sand Springs Chamber of Commerce while he also served on many boards including Baptist Retirement Village, Oklahoma Baptist Homes for Children, OK Care, Oklahoma Commission for Children and Youth, Sand Springs Welfare Association, American Heritage Bank, and in 2002 was bestowed the honor of Sand Springs Hometown Hero. Bill retired after 21 years as a trustee of Sand Springs Home in 2002, and moved to Durant, Oklahoma. He was an active member of First Baptist Church in Durant, Oklahoma. Bill loved his Lord, his family, and his friends. He loved and will be missed by his faithful companions Kit and Sam.

Mr. Brown is survived by his children, Larry Brown and wife Lisa of Tulsa,Oklahoma, Alan Brown and wife Rebecca of Jenks, Oklahoma, Mike Mullens and wife Sharla of Colbert, Oklahoma, Kevin Mullens and wife Carla of Sherman, Texas and Robert Mullens and wife Angela of Edmond, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Amy and Leslie Rampy, Emily and Brian Copsey, Tim and Amber Brown, Clara Brown, Jennifer and Randy Cowles, Neal Keller, Melissa and Dusty Prater, Sunni and Clint Hayes, Billy and Kristen Mullens, Aaron Mullens, Candace Mullens, Noah Mullens; great grandchildren, Beth, Jacob, Logan, MacKenzie, James, Kenzie, Brayden, Shelbi, Audrey, Lucas, Mary Grace, Bailey, Addison, Remington, and Paisley; siblings, Geneva Watson, Homer Brown, Charline Brown, Nevada Brown, and Harold Bast. Mr. Brown was preceded in death by his parents, Deloss and Clara Brown; siblings, Janice Bast and Dee Brown.

Family Hour for his family will be from 4-6:00 PM Thursday, March 21, 2013 at the family home. A Memorial Service in his honor will be held at 10:00 AM Friday, March 22, 2013 at the First Baptist Church in Durant, Oklahoma with Rev. James Robinson and Fred Ward officiating. Visitation will be held 6-8:00 PM Friday, March 22, 2013 at the Mobley Dodson Funeral Home in Sand Springs, Oklahoma. Interment will be on Saturday, March 23, 2013 at 10:00 AM at Woodland Memorial Park in Sand Springs, Oklahoma with Rev. James Robinson and Rev. Robert Griffin officiating. Serving as pallbearers will be The Gideons. Services are under the direction of Holmes-Coffey-Murray Funeral Home, Durant, Oklahoma.
