Tony Kennedy currently serves as advisor to the president. He served as president of Oklahoma Baptist Homes for Children for 19 years, from 1997 through 2016.

He has served as chair and member of the Oklahoma Commission on Children and Youth. He has served as President, Secretary-Treasurer and member of the Oklahoma Children’s Agencies and Residential Enterprises (OkCare). He has also served as President, Secretary-Treasurer and member of the Southwestern Association of Child Care Executives. He is a past president of the Baptist Child Care Executives.

He served as administrator at Boys Ranch Town in Edmond for 13 years, was a District Supervisor for the Southeast Region of Oklahoma for the State Department of Vocational-Technical Education and taught Vocational Agriculture in Omaha, Nebraska, and Madill, Oklahoma. He has a Master’s Degree in Education from Central State University, a Bachelor’s Degree in Agriculture Education from Oklahoma State University and an Associate Degree in Agriculture from Murray State College. He participated in President Bush’s White House 2002 Conference on Missing, Exploited, and Runaway Children.

He and his wife, Sheryl, are the proud parents of two daughters: Dr. Leslie Kennedy Hollis, husband Barry, and son Christopher Nelson Hollis of Decatur, Texas; Erin Kennedy Austin, husband Jon, children Jackson David Austin, Meredith Grace Austin, Elliot Joshua Austin and Lydia Kate Austin of Edmond, Oklahoma. Their son, Stewart Kennedy, wife Casey, children Emily Anna, Peyton Michael, and Chance Emmett are Edmond residents.

Tony was ordained to the Gospel Ministry at First Baptist Church, Edmond in 1993. He was ordained as a deacon in 1970 at Harrison Street Baptist Church in Omaha, Nebraska. He enjoys hunting, fishing, traveling, sports and spending time with his children and grandchildren.

His personal mission is to live each day in fellowship with Jesus Christ and to be available at all times to do His will.
