2010 Benefit Bass Tournament
On Saturday, April 24, nineteen teams of two fished in the Sixth Annual Benefit Bass Tournament for the Baptist Home for Girls in Madill on Lake Texoma. The overall winner of the tournament orchestrated by the Enon Baptist Association of Ardmore was the father/daughter team of Mike Forrest and Brittany Forrest, from Moore OK, with a catch totaling 13.15 pounds.
The Biggest Bass award sponsored by David Miller Overhead Door was hauled in by the team of Jeff and Joe Culbreath, from Caddo. This year in remembrance of Stephen Mark Purvis, the Texoma Christian Bass club sponsored 2nd place Big Bass. This award went to the team of Jerrod Carpenter and Mark Vance of Ardmore.
According the Enon Baptist Association Representative, Matt Cunningham, anglers brought in 72 fish from the local lake. Second place in the tournament went to David Miller and Roy McMillian, Randy Rhoades and Mike Watson captured third place. Fourth place was earned by Kevin Lindesmith and Bryant Smith, with Jerrod Carpenter and Mark Vance coming in fifth.
“The Enon Baptist Association did an outstanding job putting together this entire tournament,” BHG regional development coordinator Greg Duncan said. “Without them the tournament would not have been possible.”
All proceeds from the fishing tournament will help defray the medical expenses of the girls living at the Madill campus.
“We (at the BHG) really appreciate all the anglers that came out to help our girls,” Duncan said.
